About
Porro was founded in Brianza, the traditional birthplace of Italian quality furniture, when the brothers Giulio and Stefano Porro established their first workshop dedicated to the production of old-style pieces of furniture for the newborn Milanese bourgeoisie. The company turned to a modern style in the 50's with the transition to the second generation of the Porro family - cousins Carlo, Arturo and Silvio. Today, Porro’s constant work of stylistic research is strengthened by collaborations with some of the most important Italian designers of the period, such as Bruno Munari, who was commissioned for the creation of the company's logo in 1966. Further to this, their important legacy is also shared with other top international designers such as Piero Lissoni, art director since 1989, Jean Marie Massaud, Christophe Pillet, Front, Alessandro Mendini, GamFratesi, Gabriele and Oscar Buratti, and Nao Tamura. The company’s production is made up of systems for both domestic and working environments and produces a varied collection of beds, containers, bookcases, chairs, tables, complements and accessories that transform spaces into highly sophisticated, architectural and tailor-made works of art.
